Richmond portions of Bay Trail, Eastshore State Park subject of June 27 Sierra Club meeting

You are invited to the June meeting of the West Contra Costa Group of the
Sierra Club. We will discuss the Richmond portions of the Bay Trail and
the Eastshore State Park.

Wednesday, June 27, 7:30 pm
Northminster Presbyterian Church Makamie Hall
545 Ashbury Street, El Cerrito

Exciting events are coming to pass along the Richmond shoreline. At our
June meeting, we will discuss two of them: the addition of many more miles
of San Francisco Bay Trail and the inclusion of the southern shoreline in
the Eastshore State Park.

In Richmond, the Bay Trail is a favorite destination and travel route.
Thanks in large part to the efforts the Trails for Richmond Action
Committee (TRAC), many more miles are in the planning stages. Phil Maynard,
who is both as representative of TRAC and a member of our Sierra Club
group's executive committee, will make a presentation on the planned route
of the Bay Trail through Richmond.

Following the presentation on the Bay Trail, Phil will lead a
brain-storming session on ideas for the Richmond part of the new East Shore
State Park. Some ideas include creating a beach for sailboards and kayaks,
improving the wetland area along Baxter creek, and an improved trailhead at
South 51st street.

Run dates: 2001-06-20 - 2001-06-27
