Former mayor Crowe dies
W.R. Crowe, who served on the El Cerrito City Council from
April 1960 to April 1964 and was mayor in 1961-62, died on Feb. 11, 2000
in Apple Valley, Calif.
The swim center was built during his tenure. He lived in
El Cerrito and Richmond for more than 35 years before moving to Southern
California in 1971.
Services were held Feb. 16 at Sunset View Mortuary.
The flag at city hall was at half mast in his memory for
the latter part of the week of Feb. 14, after the city staff learned of
his death.
