Benefit concert Feb. 26 at the Sweetwater for elementary music program

Due to the budget cuts in the West Contra Costa Unified School District , the elementary school instrumental music programs for the next school year are in serious jeopardy of being eliminated. Currently, there are only five full-time elementary instrumental music teachers, but we could use nine full-time teachers. Therefore, the time is now to raise money. For every $350 raised, we can sponsor one elementary school music student for one year.

In response to this need, there will be a benefit concert at the Sweetwater, 153 Throckmorton Avenue in Mill Valley on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. The benefit features a stellar cast:

Introductory and Closing Remarks - organizer and teacher Paul Auday
> Emcee Wavy Gravy
> Guitarist Country Joe McDonald
> Guitarist Mark Karan from Ratdog
> Bassist Robin Sylvester from Ratdog
> Saxophonist Kenny Brooks from Ratdog
> Keyboardist Pete Sears from Jefferson Starship
> Guitarist David Gans
> The Rowan Brothers (Guitarists)
> The Flying Other Brothers (featuring Pete Sears, Barry Sless, and Jimmy Sanchez)
> Guitarist Vir McCoy from Hamsa Lila
> Guitarist and Teacher Melanie Phippard
> And Very Special Guests

"Please attend this show," said organizer Paul Auday, who teaches fifth grade at Peres Elementary School in Richmond. You can either pay $25 in cash or make a tax-deductible check to the Ed. Fund. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Sweetwater at (415) 388-2820 or contacting Mr. Auday at (510) 658-7746 or paulauday@aol.com.
Run dates: 2005-02-22 - 2005-02-26
