EC Democrats meet June 28
The El Cerrito Democratic Club will be meeting at 7:30 p.m. on June 28th in Makemie Hall at the Northminster Presbyterian Church, 545 Ashbury Ave., El Cerrito. After the usual short business meeting, we will hear from two speakers on "The California Prison-Industrial Complex". Concern for the increasing amounts of money being spent on prisons and the decreasing amount spent on schools, prompted us to invite Mr. Ari Wohlfeiler, from the California Moratorium Project, a group working to oppose prison expansion and prevent new prison construction, and Ms. Laura Magnani, an Assistant Regional Director of the American Friends Service Committee, who is working on prison reform.
