Short story award winner at library Dec. 6
join Yiyun Li, author of "A Thousand Years of Good Prayers", for a talk on her debut collection of short stories about modern life in China and the United States on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at 7 pm. at the El Cerrito Library, 6510 Stockton Avenue, El Cerrito, (510) 526-7512. Li is this year's recipient of the largest short story prize in the world, the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award. Her stories "make for provocative and memorable fiction that is simultaneously culturally specific and universal" - Booklist.
Yiyun Li grew up in Beijing and came to the United States in 1996. She lives in Oakland and teaches in the Masters of Fine Arts program at Mills College.
