Library system offers small business series Jan. 12-30

The Contra Costa County Library and the Contra Costa Small Business
Development Center(SBDC)present the following winter workshops:

Handling Human Resource Problems Successfully
Presenter: Deisy Bach, President of HR Ideas

Even on the best days, being an employer in California is risky business.
The challenges confronting owners today are greater and more complex. Bach
will focus on small business issues, how to avoid legal penalties and/or
lawsuits, as well as the “Do’s and Don’ts” in hiring, wages, harassment,
counseling, and terminations.

The Most Powerful Tax Saving Strategies for Business Owners
Presenter: Cathy Mu, C.P.A., with offices in Walnut Creek and Albany.

The self-employed, or small business owner with employees, will learn how
to make smart decisions about their money so their taxes are reduced to a
minimum, helping to achieve their financial goals faster. Tax tips for
2005 and 2006 will be covered. The workshop will also be given in February
in Concord.
