EL CERRITO HOSTS PUBLIC WORKSHOP FOR OHLONE GREENWAY LANDSCAPING PLAN ON DECEMBER 5
El Cerrito, CA –The City of El Cerrito is hosting several upcoming workshops and stakeholder meetings to receive input on the development of an Ohlone Greenway improvement plan. The upcoming meeting will focus on landscaping and ecological issues on Wednesday, December 5, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the El Cerrito Community Center (7007 Moeser Lane). Other upcoming meetings will focus on the topics of Safety; Recreation and Park Amenities; Seniors; Disabled Users, School Users and multi-use path design.
The Ohlone Greenway is an approximately 2.7 mile multi-use path that runs directly beneath elevated BART tracks. The upcoming meeting will include discussion of which plants and trees are planned to be removed through an upcoming BART Earthquake Safety Program retrofit and proposed trail realignment. The meeting will focus on developing a sustainable planting strategy, and include discussion of desirable plants, planting patterns and special areas. Special areas include riparian and habitat areas, gardens, and other special use areas.
