"Thoroughly Modern Millie" continues through July 19 (no July 4 show)

Thoroughly Modern Millie continues to play this coming Friday July 3, 2009 at 8 pm and Sunday July 5 at 2 pm. Tickets are still available for each performance. Due to the July 4th Holiday there will be no performance Saturday July 4. Tickets are $24, $15 for age 16 and under. Contra Costa Civic Theatre is located at 951 Pomona Avenue (at Moeser) in El Cerrito, with free parking in an adjacent lot.

Thoroughly Modern Millie will continue through July 19 with Friday and Saturday night shows at 8 pm and Sunday at 2 pm.

The winner of six Tony Awards in 2002, including Best Musical, this frisky musical, a book by Richard Morris and Dick Scanlon, new music by Jeanine Tensori, new lyrics by Dick Scanlan, and is based on the original story and screenplay by Richard Morris for the Universal Pictures film. The production is directed by Daren A.C. Carollo, with music direction by Joe Simiele, and choreography by Liz Caffrey.

Heroine Millie Dillmount (Morgan Breedveld) is a small-town girl seeking love and success in New York City. She soon begins to take to delight in the flapper lifestyle, but problems arise when she checks into a hotel owned by the leader of a white slavery ring in China. Millie sings and tap-dances her way in and out of danger, as the supporting cast shows us exactly what the Roaring 20s were all about.
