Historical Society offers tour of Sunset View Cemetery July 18
The El Cerrito Historical Society presents:
A Historical Tour of Sunset View Cemetery
Conducted by Tom Panas
This event is free to the public and refreshments will be served
Sunset View Cemetery, founded in 1908 by folks from Berkeley – a city that lacks its own cemetery – is one of El Cerrito’s most fascinating places. Learn the fascinating history of this cemetery, visit its chapel, a modern design by William Corlett that was constructed by El Cerrito builder Marvin Collins, and its waterfall, and find out where the bodies are buried.
A program in the chapel will be followed by a tour of the cemetery. People will drive to several selected areas.
Meet at the Chapel at Colusa and Fairmount Avenues. A short Historical Society meeting will be followed by the program.
2 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2010
