Printmaking topic of Oct. 11 art association talk
On Monday, October 11, 2010, Assistant Professor of Art at Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, Toru Sugita, will speak at the El Cerrito Art Association. He will give a basic demonstration and show sample works to introduce various traditional fine art printmaking techniques, including woodcut, etching, lithography, monotype, and screen print.
Sugita holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking from San Francisco State University, and has traveled, taught and exhibited widely, both in the U.S. and internationally. For more information about Toru Sugita and his work, visit his website at www.torusugita.net.
The meeting will be held in the Garden Room of the El Cerrito Community Center, 7007 Moeser Lane in El Cerrito. The evening begins at 7:00 p.m. with social time and a “mini art show” of members’ work. A brief business meeting is held at 7:30 followed immediately by the speaker.
