In the 1800s, after spending several years in Yosemite Valley, John Muir moved
to Martinez, where he did much of his conservation writing. The house and part
of the ranch where he worked, married, and raised a family is preserved as a
National Historic Site. At the meeting on Sept. 27 an interpreter from the site
will bring slides and talk about the house and Muir's life there. The meeting
will be followed by a tour of the John Muir Home on October 7.
