Walking El Cerrito for Measure M (Saturday!)
On Saturday, October 21, parents, students, teachers, and community members
will be walking door-to-door in El Cerrito to get the word out about Measure
M, a $150 million school bond measure on the November Ballot.
Everyone is invited and no experience is necessary. Meet at 849 Lexington Ave
in El Cerrito at 10:00 AM (cross street is Waldo). We'll team you up with
other walkers. It is great exercise and good old fashioned democracy at work.
Over the past two weeks walkers have covered parts of Hercules, Pinole, El
Sobrante, and Richmond. Precinct walking is continuing every Saturday until
election day and community phone banks are being held Monday through Thursday
from 5:30 to 8:30. For more information call Kim Benford at (510) 872-5739.
Measure M raises $150 million dollars to repair local schools which average
over 50 years in age. It has been endorsed by a broad spectrum of the
community including the Contra Costa Taxpayers Association, League of Women
Voters Richmond Area, Bayside Council PTA, and hundreds of organizations and
men and women throughout West County.
